Originally flagged as the Macon Hilton in 1970, the 297 room Ramada Plaza Hotel was sold at foreclosure to its lender in June 2009.

According to Linda S. Morris at the Macon Telegraph, the hotel is now back on the market and will be sold at auction on March 9th.

- The Ramada Plaza was bought at foreclosure June 2 on the Bibb County Courthouse steps for $1 million by 108 First St. Holding LLC — a company formed by the lender.

- Court documents at the time put the value of the Ramada Plaza at $5.43 million. It was one of 11 hotels owned by Atlanta-based Kronos Hotel & Resorts listed as collateral for a $48.5 million loan that was in default.

From Linda S. Morris at the Macon Telegraph:

When the hotel was renamed Ramada Plaza on Nov. 1, 2007, it was the fifth name for the 16-story hotel since it was built in 1970. Prior to becoming a Ramada Plaza, the hotel held the name Crowne Plaza for 10 years. Originally, it was a Hilton from 1970 until 1991, and was the Macon Downtown Hotel until 1993. From 1993 until 1996, it was a Radisson hotel.
